Salix Funding NHS

Salix Funding NHS

Salix Finance is a public sector organisation in the United Kingdom that provides interest-free loans to public sector bodies, including the National Health Service (NHS), for investing in energy efficiency and sustainability projects. These loans help organisations reduce their carbon emissions and save on energy costs.

Salix funding has been used by many NHS trusts and healthcare organisations to upgrade their facilities and reduce energy consumption, which aligns with broader sustainability goals and contributes to cost savings in the long run. These projects can include initiatives such as upgrading lighting systems, improving insulation, and implementing more energy-efficient heating and cooling systems in NHS facilities. The specific projects and funding amounts can vary across different NHS trusts and regions.

Recently, University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) has been awarded £29.4m from the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme to fund a major new energy-efficient heating system fit for the future.

Southampton General Hospital’s (SGH) heating is currently provided via a centralised steam heat service. It works by steam running around the central core of the hospital, connected to gas and oil boilers.

Sen Consulting are the main project lead on behalf of the Trust and working in partnership with CEF, Veolia and NHS.
